Services of a two, three, or four person crew with technical support and assistance can be provided as required. Necessary equipment, supplies and transportation can also be furnished. All field vehicles are equipped with cellular phones.

NEI utilizes the most advanced equipment and procedures for field data collection and reduction. "Topcon" electronic total station instruments are used consisting of an infrared distance meter and a one second electronic theodolite. Each total station is equipped with a field data computer. The data collectors interface with IBM compatible computers to transfer information to either AutoCAD or Intergraph Microstation drawing files to establish a network for horizontal and vertical control. The process is used for collection of topographic data for base mapping, development of design drawings, construction staking and as-built verification.

NEI utilizes the most advanced leveling equipment, Wild-Heerbrugg NA2002 Electronic Level, used for vertical control with near second-order precision consistent with National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) standards. This instrument obtains precise electronic readings from a bar-coded rod and downloads the information to an IBM compatible computer. Automatic levels with optical micrometers are also used for localized elevation measurements
